Frames can be provided in karat gold, silver-gilt (lemon gold), or decorative painted finishes.

The maker of these moldings accurately reproduces them from historic frames in museums and private collections.

 

 

This molding, "Carriage", makes a particularly nice frame in a lemon-gold finish. The subtle beadings give this molding distinction when burnished, but it is also effective in painted finishes.

This simple slope frame with a rounded top can be a good choice for smaller works of the 1840's when done in either gold or silver-gilt, but is also suitable for contemporary art.
