19th Century Baroque-style Mirror

I purchased this at an auction several years ago. It was missing some of its carving, and as usual, damage to the gilding and gesso layers was "fixed" by covering it with bronze paint. I suspect this is a Nineteenth Century version of an earlier style, probably a souvenier of someone's European tour.

Compared to the time spent removing the old gesso making the carving and structural repairs, the time gilding seems to fly by.

Gilding is complete; it will be distressed and toned.and a reproduction mirror of blown glass will be installed.
